East Village

The Design of E. V.

East Village was designed and engineered by Hillcrest & Associates with Rick Longo as the architect. Mr. Longo was inspired by the 18th century Georgian architecture of the UD campus, and the unique homes in the greater Newark Community. The 4 story building contains 10 townhouse apartments located at 178 South Chapel Street.  Each Town Home has nearly 3000 square feet of living space.

The apartments have a 4 car Garage Entrance from a Private Driveway on the Southside. Once inside the Garage the 2nd Level can be reached through an enclosed stairwell. Garages are equipped with garage door openers and a coded keypad for security.

On the Northside from Chapel Street a paved walkway leads to ground Level Garage Man Doors, and a series of stairs going up railed porches.  The Front Entrance is on the 2nd Level.

Once inside the entrance Hallway there is a large Hall Closet.  Off the Hallway is a Powder Room and a cozy room that can be used a Study, Den, or extra Dining area.

Enter the Kitchen and Dining area after passing two double door pantries with multiple shelves for plenty of storage.  The alley Kitchen contains tall overhead and lower cabinets and drawers.  A ten foot island with granite countertops provides room for meal preparation and dining.   Appliances include an electric Stove, Dishwasher, overhead Microwave/Vent Fan, and a double door Refrigerator.

Completing the 2nd Level is the Living Room and Laundry Room containing a washer and dryer.  The Garage Entrance Hallway is off the Laundry with an area for keys and a cleaning chart.

The 3rd and 4th Levels contain 6 Bedrooms and 6 Bathrooms.  The design and square footage of the rooms mirror each other from side to side. Four Bedrooms are on the 3rd level each with their own Full Bath.  The 4th Level has charming architecture due to the unique roof lines, and contains two large Bedrooms each with a Full Bath.

Each apartment's decorations have unique color combinations in the lighting, carpet, cabinets, and granite color selections.

The ConstructionThe

Construction of East Village began in June of 2014 and was completed in 2016.  Chris and Lisa were pleased to work beside many building professionals known to them as previous members of High Energy Gym. Other tradesman were locally known for their craft of design, truss and frame building, stone and brick masonry, and utility engineers.

The East Village was beautifully designed with locally quarried Blue Mica stone and a brick exterior.  Up to date and efficient heating and cooling systems were installed for energy conservation and cost savings.  Each level has fire sprinkler systems and a general alarm system.

We would like to acknowledge everyone who had a hand in visualizing and building East Village.  We learned a great deal of the heart and sweat that is behind each step, wall, and stone!  Thank you!
